Fishing Tips:A great place for catching kahawai when they are schooling around the mouth of the harbour. Cast up-current and vary the depth and speed of retrieve. Use small metal jigs, or soft bait lures. Metal jigs will probably account for more kahawai; soft baits will catch a greater range of species. Also worth putting out a surfcaster while you spin-fish — there is always the chance of a nice snapper.
