Rick Pollock moved to Whakatane from his native Southern California in 1978. In his first six years of operating boats from this coastal port he split his operational mode between sport fishing during the summer and autumn months, commercial fishing over winter and spring. Such is the demand now days Rick is chartering all year round and is recognised as one of New Zealand's top skippers, with an incredible knowledge of recreational fishing and a determination to provide the ultimate experience for all his clients. This is why he has one of the most successful charter boat businesses in the country, if not the most successful.

Hugh Ensor grew up with an intense love of the sea, spending his boyhood years on the East Coast near Gisborne learning to fishing and hunt. After finishing school he did an apprenticeship as an Engineer which has stood him in good stead, maintaining his current three vessels. His childhood love of the sea led to him following a career as a commercial diver and he spent six years working in various countries on the offshore oilfield industry.

Hugh holds a NZ Commercial Launch Masters ticket and he has an awesome reputation for putting fish on the boat, he and his wife Raewyn operate three charter boats out of Tauranga Harbour and specialize in reef and hapuku fishing anywhere in the Bay of Plenty.

Llew Jones is the skipper and owner of the Whangamata based charter boat, Te Ra. Llew has been fishing for most of his life with his first paid marine job at the age of 10 as boat boy. Since then Llew indulged his love of the sea with both recreational fishing and commercial fishing on a part time basis until he bought Te Ra fifteen years ago. Llew writes a regular column for NZ Fishing News and is a member of the Whangamata Ocean Sport fishing Club. Te Ra (The Sun) is a 45 foot launch available for casual trips and charters in the Eastern Coromandel / Bay of Plenty, operating out of Whangamata.

Joe is the owner / skipper of the famous Leilani II and has 20 years of fishing experience in the area which made him the perfect fisherman to supply our spots. In 2001 Joe purchased Leilani II and has spent the last year and a half further upgrading her to survey standards. Based in Whitianga Marina on the Coromandel Peninsula, Leilani II is surveyed for 7 people overnight and 28 people for inner harbour. Joe specializes in Game Fishing, Bottom Fishing, Diving, Sightseeing and Weddings with most occasions catered for.
